Why remove image metadata?

Photos and graphics quietly carry location, device, and workflow fingerprints. Cleaning that data protects privacy while keeping pixels identical.

Hide location trails

Remove GPS coordinates and timestamps so shared photos don’t reveal where or when they were taken.

Protect device details

Strip camera make/model, lens info, and software tags that can expose your tools or workflow.

Share assets safely

Deliver product shots, social posts, and design exports without embedded author notes or previews.

Our secure image-cleaning flow

We use the same hardened remover as /remove, focused on image formats and designed to preserve quality.

Upload over HTTPS

Drag-and-drop or pick a PNG, JPG/JPEG, or WEBP. Files are transferred securely and not stored after processing.

Detect and target image metadata

We identify EXIF/GPS, XMP, text chunks, and container tags based on format so the right cleaning tools run automatically.

Preserve pixels and compression

Cleaning is metadata-only, keeping JPEG compression, PNG transparency/ICC, and WEBP frames untouched.

Download and purge

You get the cleaned image instantly, and the temporary server copy is deleted immediately.

What image metadata do we remove?

We target identifying tags across common image formats while leaving pixels, color, and compression untouched.

  • EXIF GPS coordinates, timestamps, orientation, and camera/lens details in JPG/JPEG, HEIC/HEIF, WEBP, and TIFF
  • Maker notes, device serials, Live Photo identifiers, and embedded thumbnails stored in EXIF blocks
  • PNG text chunks (tEXt, iTXt, zTXt) plus optional EXIF/XMP blocks with author or software fields
  • XMP packets containing author, copyright, keywords, and edit-history notes across supported image formats
  • Container-level tags in WEBP such as title, description, software, and custom comments
  • GeoTIFF fields, scanner/software tags, and document labels saved in TIFF/TIF images
  • Comment or plain-text extensions, XMP blocks, and creator tags embedded in GIF files
  • Software/editor fingerprints and custom key/value metadata across supported image formats

Image metadata removal FAQs

Will removing EXIF change image quality?

No. We run metadata-only operations, so pixels, resolution, compression, and transparency stay exactly the same.

Can this remove GPS from my photos?

Yes. GPS coordinates and related location tags in EXIF are stripped from JPG/JPEG, HEIC/HEIF, WEBP converted from photos, and TIFF files.

Do PNG files have metadata?

PNG supports EXIF/XMP blocks and text chunks (tEXt/iTXt/zTXt). We remove those while keeping bit depth, ICC profiles, and alpha intact.

Are my uploads stored?

No. Files are processed over HTTPS and deleted immediately after the cleaned copy is delivered to your browser.

Does cleaning affect animated WEBP or GIF?

No. We scrub metadata while keeping frames, timing, loop counts, and compression untouched.
